  • Hospital previously held second place, surpassing Boston Children’s Hospital.
  • Three other Canadian pediatric hospitals also made the top 50.

Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children has been ranked the best pediatric hospital in the world in a new list released by Newsweek and Statista. The survey, conducted among tens of thousands of medical professionals, considered accreditation data and patient outcomes, placing SickKids at the very top after finishing second last year.

The recognition comes as SickKids celebrates its 150th anniversary and continues its focus on precision child health, tailoring treatment to each patient’s needs. The hospital was highlighted for its strengths in neonatology and oncology, with one of the largest pediatric cancer departments in North America treating roughly 275 new cases each year.

Other Canadian hospitals also scored high: BC Children’s Hospital ranked eighth, Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary 12th, and Edmonton’s Stollery Children’s Hospital 40th. In total, 250 hospitals were included in the global pediatric ranking, reaffirming Canada’s strong presence in specialized child health care.
