Key Points:

  • Farm Boy’s Dupont Street store closed for “preventative maintenance” weeks after pest-related citations.
  • Comes shortly after its Yonge & Soudan location was shut down by the City for a mice infestation.
  • Employees allege severe rodent problems, with conditions so bad the store was nicknamed the “mouse store.”

Farm Boy has temporarily closed its Dupont and Christie location, citing preventative maintenance after being flagged in August for pest control issues. Toronto Public Health confirmed the closure wasn’t triggered by a new inspection but was voluntary.

The move follows the closure of Farm Boy’s Yonge and Soudan store earlier this month, which was ordered shut after inspectors found multiple infractions, including evidence of rodents contaminating food areas.

Some employees described the Yonge store’s rodent problem as overwhelming, saying mice roamed openly at night and cleaning up droppings and carcasses became routine. Farm Boy says the closures are proactive steps to protect customer and staff health, with plans to reopen “in a timely fashion.”
