‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Lands on Netflix: Where and How To Watch

Written by Arman Tale, Editor at Brand Vision Insights.

Even the fiercest competitor might stop in their tracks for the brand-new episodes of Squid Game. After turning the streaming world upside down in 2021, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and his perilous games are back for Season 2, now officially available on Netflix. The seven-episode run continues the story of Player 456, who once again plunges into the life-or-death struggle that left fans—and critics—awestruck.

This time around, Gi-hun isn’t messing around. He returns to the horrific competition with a singular focus: tear the entire thing down before more lives are lost. The Front Man’s (Lee Byung-hun) cryptic motivations still loom large, fueling a game full of twists that feel both brand-new and dauntingly familiar. There’s more at stake than ever, as the promise of an enormous cash prize still dangles in front of the desperate, and not everyone is on the same page about how to escape unscathed.

Reviews have been rolling in, and they’re as mixed and intense as the show itself. Variety called it a “worthy follow-up” that dives deeper into the show’s sinister themes. The Wrap praised Season 2 for being “more brutal, haunting, and entertaining than ever,” while The Hollywood Reporter noted that the style remains solid but questioned whether it’s lost a bit of its originality. The Daily Beast criticized its failure to wrap up every subplot, saying it sometimes forgets the unique elements that made the first season click. Observer suggested it feels more like part one of a bigger story—especially since a third season’s already confirmed for 2025—yet still finds the moral dilemmas enthralling. And South China Morning Post thinks the allegories and character arcs have grown even sharper.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk remains confident fans won’t be disappointed, mentioning that he’s got “a lot on [his] shoulders” but has done everything possible to make Season 2 worth the wait. The Golden Globes apparently agree—it’s already snagged a nomination for Best Drama Series.

If you’re ready to binge (and maybe cringe), all seven episodes are right there on Netflix. Considering the massive cultural impact of the first run, it’s no surprise fans worldwide are eager to see whether Gi-hun can overturn the system that nearly broke him. The only question: how far will he—and everyone else—go this time around?
