YouTube TV is raising its monthly price from $72.99 to $82.99 starting in January. The company informed subscribers today, explaining the increase is due to rising content costs and investments in improving the service. Features like unlimited DVR storage and a large on-demand library were highlighted as part of the value offered.
This is the second price hike in less than two years. YouTube TV launched in 2017 at $34.99 per month, meaning the price has gone up by 137% over time. The new rate matches Hulu+Live TV, which recently raised its price to $82.99 as well.
With around 8 million subscribers, YouTube TV remains a major player in the streaming market. Analysts predict it will become the largest Pay TV service in the U.S. by 2026, overtaking Comcast.
